The first ever Big Issue Big Winter walk was a roaring success! 250 people set off on an 18 mile overnight walk to celebrate 18 years of the Big Issue Foundation providing “a hand up and not a hand out” to London’s homeless.  The skies were bright and the  crowd enthusiastic as they gathered at the Imax who very kindly hosted the start and the finish of the walk.  Following mile markers around London with relevant questions about homelessness, the walkers made their way through many of the streets of London known historically for their congregations of homeless people.  The walkers saw first hand what it was like to live on London’s lively streets in the middle of winter and were joined on the walk by several Big Issue Vendors. We look forward to an even bigger crowd in 2010 raising much needed funds to provide life skills to the homeless out of the poverty trap.
