How does it work?
Over the years we have helped charities both large
and small to raise almost £3 million through
challenge events. As our events are short, sharp weekends,
you will see participants come back again and again
to support you as they offer a great, low risk way
of achieving a unique challenge.
Fund-raising events for charities are an important
source of funds from a target market that is otherwise
difficult to reach and even more difficult to motivate.
They allow people the opportunity to commit to raise
a minimum sum of money, in support of a preferred
cause, in return for a trip to do a unique event of
interest to them.
The charity is responsible for advertising the event
and managing the recruitment. We, as operators, take
the risk away from the charity, by managing the planning
and execution of the event; developing the itinerary
with you; booking all the accommodation, guides, transfers,
etc; dealing with the suppliers on the event; managing
all aspects of health and safety, etc. As we always
include one free place for a representative from the
charity on every bespoke event, this leaves you to
meet and network with the participants, confident
the logistics are being left in the hand of the experts.
Most charities request an amount to be paid as a
registration fee (around £100-£200) when
participants sign up. This will be non refundable
and should cover some, if not all, of the cost the
charity will incur at this stage. The participant
will then need to commit to raise a certain minimum
amount in sponsorship (around £1000-£1500).
Some people who go on these events are primarily
motivated by the event itself rather than the charity.
Many charities therefore like to offer a unique event
which it is not possible for a participant to do with
any other charity. There are only 2-3 events in the
Tall Stories calendar that we share with other operators.
All others are unique to us and therefore unique to
the charity that offers them.
